Description
Winter triticale variety SWAT® is a high-yielding grain variety developed for agronomic use in Russia, specifically in the Central Black Earth and North Caucasian regions. This hexaploid variety is characterized by a very early maturity group, medium plant height, and an intermediate semi-prostrate bush type. The ear is white, of medium length, and fully awned, while the grain is elongated and red, with a 1000-grain weight ranging from 41.3 to 61.8 grams. The average protein content in the grain is between 10.5% and 13.4%.
The SWAT variety is distinguished by high resistance to major diseases such as brown and stem rust, powdery mildew, septoria, and Fusarium of the ear, as well as resistance to lodging and shattering. Yield varies by region, averaging 58.9 c/ha in the Central Black Earth region and 46.8 c/ha in the North Caucasus, with maximum indicators reaching up to 96.9 c/ha, as confirmed by test results at the Avdievsky State Agrarian Testing Station in the Tambov region.
Triticale SWAT is widely used in agriculture for producing grain products. Its grain is used not only for feed purposes but also for the production of pellets, briquettes, baking of cookies, and in the food and alcohol industries for the production of bioethanol. Due to its agronomic characteristics and versatility, the SWAT variety is a reliable choice for farmers focused on high productivity and product quality.
