Carroll F1 watermelon is an early-maturing hybrid of the Crimson Sweet type, developed by the Dutch breeding company Rijk Zwaan. The period from seedling transplanting to the first fruit ripening is 62-65 days, allowing for a quick harvest. The plant features strong, leafy vines with good fruit coverage due to its large leaf canopy. The hybrid adapts quickly to various cultivation conditions and agronomic practices, and is resistant to diseases, pests, and adverse weather conditions such as drought and excessive rainfall. The fruits of the Carroll watermelon have a classic round-oval shape, weighing between 6 to 9 kg. The skin is a rich green color with a dense waxy coating, smooth and even, approximately 1.5 cm thick, ensuring good transportability and storage quality. The flesh is bright red, uniform, moderately crisp, free of voids and fibers, and contains a small number of small black seeds. The flavor is distinctly sweet, with sugar content at 12-13%, and a pleasant aroma. The watermelon actively accumulates sugars and beneficial microelements, making it especially attractive for fresh market sales. For increased yield, it is recommended to grow this hybrid on a rootstock, such as Ferro F1, and to ensure timely watering and fertilization. The optimal planting density is 6,000 to 9,000 plants per hectare. Carroll F1 is suitable for cultivation both in open ground and under temporary film coverings, demonstrating stable and high yields.
