It is an obligate parasite that specifically infects legume species, primarily affecting Phaseolus vulgaris. The virus particles consist of single-stranded RNA encapsulated in a protein coat, and they rely entirely on the host plant's cellular machinery to replicate and disseminate throughout the plant tissues.
The primary hosts for this virus are common beans. Infected plants exhibit symptoms such as mild mottling, light mosaic patterns on the leaves, and occasional slight chlorosis. Because the symptoms are relatively mild compared to other more aggressive legume viruses, infected plants might be overlooked in the field, allowing the virus to persist undetected throughout the entire growing season.
