Diseases and susceptible crops: The primary host for this pathogen is the cultivated strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa). The infection causes distinct leaf spots, often characterized by brown margins and necrotic centers. In severe cases, the fungus affects petioles, stems, and fruits, resulting in poor crop quality and plant decline.
Biology and life cycle: The pathogen overwinters as pycnidia or mycelium within plant debris located on or in the soil. During periods of high humidity and rainfall, the pycnidia release conidia, which serve as primary inoculum.
