This fungus is responsible for a variety of plant diseases, primarily leaf spots, seed rot, and root decay. It exhibits a broad host range, infecting critical agricultural crops such as maize, wheat, and rice, as well as several fruit-bearing plants. Seedling blight is a common consequence of its activity, often leading to reduced stand density and significant economic losses for farmers.

The biology of Curvularia tuberculata is characterized by the production of septate conidia, which serve as the primary inoculum for disease spread. These conidia typically feature a tuberculate or rough surface, which facilitates their attachment to plant surfaces.
