Crop rotation failures and poor control over the quality of seed material are the primary reasons for the accumulation of a high infection pressure in fields.

The harmfulness of the pathogen is reflected in a significant reduction in crop yields and a decrease in the quality of the produce. In cases of severe infestation, losses can reach 30–60% of the potential harvest volume.
