This pathogen is recognized as a causative agent of various necrotic diseases in plants, primarily affecting woody species. As a phytopathogen, it interacts closely with the host tissue, leading to pathological changes in the bark and vascular system of the infected plants.
The diseases caused by Microcyclospora are often characterized by the formation of cankers, necrosis of the bark, and tissue dieback. Crops such as fruit trees are particularly susceptible.
