The primary symptom of an infection is the development of a white, powdery mycelial coating on the leaves and stems of the host plant. This layer consists of the fungus's hyphae and conidiophores. As the infection progresses, it disrupts photosynthesis, leads to chlorosis, premature wilting, and eventually the senescence of infected plant tissues.
