The symptoms of Trichoconis padwickii infection appear as irregular, brownish or grayish spots on the leaves, which eventually expand and lead to tissue necrosis. When the pathogen affects the panicles and grains, it causes discoloration, shriveling, and the growth of a characteristic fungal mat, rendering the seeds largely non-viable and reducing overall yield.
