Its life cycle involves both a sexual stage, which occurs on decaying leaves, and an asexual stage, responsible for spreading infection throughout the growing season.
The disease caused by this pathogen is known as apple scab. It manifests as dark, corky spots on leaves, fruits, and occasionally shoots. The economic damage caused by the fungus is significant, as it leads to premature leaf drop, stunted fruit growth, and severe blemishes, which dramatically reduce the marketability and quality of the harvest.

Chemical control involves the timely application of fungicides, specifically targeting the period from bud break to fruit set.
