The genus Alcidodes is a group of beetles belonging to the family Curculionidae (true weevils), order Coleoptera. These insects are recognized as significant agricultural pests in various parts of the world, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. Adults are characterized by their elongated snouts, which are utilized for both feeding and drilling oviposition sites into plant tissues.

Alcidodes species are known to infest a diverse range of host plants, including fruit trees, cotton, legumes, and several technical crops. Their impact is particularly severe on perennial plants, where larvae can tunnel into woody stems and branches, leading to structural damage and reduced photosynthetic capacity of the plant.
