The weevil causes the most significant damage to various species of acacia, specifically attacking reproductive organs and vegetative parts of plants, which directly affects seed productivity and the overall health of the vegetation.
The lifecycle of the weevil is closely synchronized with the phenology of its host plant. The female deposits eggs directly into the tissues of flower buds or young ovaries. The developing larvae penetrate the interior of the fruit or flower, where they undergo their primary metamorphosis stages, feeding on internal tissues and destroying their structure from within.
