Ancognatha is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Scarabaeidae. These insects are significant pests, particularly in the Neotropical regions, where their larval stages inhabit the soil and feed on the roots of various economically important plants. They are part of a group commonly referred to as white grubs.

The host range of Ancognatha is diverse, encompassing both agricultural crops and ornamental species. Among the most susceptible crops are potatoes, corn, and diverse turfgrass species. Because the larvae remain buried in the root zone, the damage often remains unnoticed until the plant shows visible signs of wilting or death.
