The primary host plant is the tea bush (Camellia sinensis). Larvae of this species are voracious leaf eaters. By feeding on the foliage, they directly reduce the photosynthetic capacity of the tea bushes, which is essential for the production of high-quality tea leaves and robust plant development.

The life cycle of the tea moth consists of four distinct stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. The larval stage is responsible for the destructive feeding behavior. Depending on climatic conditions, the moth can complete multiple generations per year, with populations often peaking during specific high-humidity and high-temperature windows.
