Host plants and damage. The pest primarily infests turfgrass, including golf courses, athletic fields, and private lawns. The larvae are the damaging stage, as they reside in the root zone and feed on the grass roots. This activity severs the plants' nutrient and water supply, leading to rapid thinning and potential death of the turf.
Biology and lifecycle. The lifecycle of Ataenius imparalis is moisture-dependent.
