Bitylenchus is a genus of plant-parasitic nematodes belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Telotylenchidae. These microscopic organisms function as ectoparasites, inhabiting the soil and feeding on the epidermal cells of root systems, which causes significant stress to host plants.
The host range of Bitylenchus is quite broad, affecting various economically important agricultural crops. Common targets include cereal grains, vegetables, and turfgrasses. These nematodes are capable of thriving in diverse soil types, making them a persistent challenge for commercial farming operations worldwide.
