As a member of the Dynastinae subfamily, these beetles are well-adapted to life within the soil profile. The primary hosts of this pest include a wide range of crops, such as cereals, field crops, and vegetables. The damage is primarily caused by the larval stages, which reside underground. These larvae feed on the roots and underground stems of developing plants, leading to severe stress, reduced nutrient uptake, and often the complete destruction of young plants during the germination and establishment phases.
