The genus Centrocoris belongs to the leaf-footed bug family (Coreidae), within the order Hemiptera. These insects are well-known sap-sucking pests frequently found in various agricultural ecosystems. They are characterized by their distinct morphological features, including specific protrusions on the pronotum, which aid in their identification within the field environment.

This pest primarily affects plants belonging to the Fabaceae and Asteraceae families, among other wild grasses. In agricultural settings, they are noted for damaging legume crops, using their piercing-sucking mouthparts to feed on the plant's vascular tissue, stems, leaves, and reproductive structures, such as flowers and developing seed pods.

The biology of Centrocoris is closely synchronized with the phenology of their host plants. These bugs undergo hemimetabolous development, meaning they have an incomplete metamorphosis. Nymphs resemble miniature adults but lack fully developed wings. Adults typically overwinter in plant debris, leaf litter, or the upper soil layers, emerging when temperatures rise in the spring.

Damage caused by these insects often results in tissue discoloration, the formation of necrotic spots, and a general decline in plant vigor. During outbreaks, high populations can lead to flower drop, pod abortion, and seed deformation, which significantly reduces both the quantity and quality of the harvest.
