Often referred to in the context of agricultural entomology, these beetles are known for their impact on floral and reproductive structures of plants, primarily within their native distribution range in the African continent.

Taxonomically, the species is part of the Coleoptera order. Its biology is centered around a life cycle consisting of complete metamorphosis.
