Cortinicara

Cortinicara is a genus of minute brown scavenger beetles belonging to the family Latridiidae, within the order Coleoptera. These insects are commonly associated with stored products, where they primarily thrive in environments that support the growth of microscopic fungi and molds on organic materials.

The biology of these beetles is inextricably linked to humidity levels. They are typically found in grain stores, warehouses, and storage facilities where moisture accumulation has caused grain to become damp or moldy. The presence of mold acts as a primary food source, triggering the life cycle of the beetle.
