Description

Ephippitytha is a genus of insects belonging to the order Orthoptera and the family Tettigoniidae, commonly known as katydids. These insects are masters of camouflage, possessing a body shape and coloration that mimics leaves, which allows them to remain elusive while feeding on foliage.

These pests primarily target fruit trees, grapevines, and various ornamental plants. Katydids consume the soft tissues of leaves, resulting in irregular holes or ragged edges. While solitary feeding might be minor, large populations can cause significant defoliation, affecting the plant's overall vigor.

The life cycle involves an egg stage, several nymphal stages, and the adult phase. Eggs are typically laid in plant debris or crevices in the bark, where they overwinter.
