Heterogaster is a genus of insects belonging to the family Lygaeidae within the order Hemiptera. These bugs are known as opportunistic pests that impact various agricultural plants. They possess a characteristic morphological structure that allows them to thrive in grassy habitats and cultivated fields, where they search for nutrient-rich parts of the host plants.

This pest primarily attacks grains, oilseeds, and various horticultural crops. By feeding on the reproductive organs, including flowers, developing seeds, and ovaries, they significantly reduce the overall productivity of the crop.
