The genus Ichneumenoptera belongs to the clearwing moth family (Sesiidae). These insects are recognized for their remarkable mimicry, as their appearance mimics various wasp species. This pest mainly affects various hardwood species, including poplars, willows, and other ornamental trees. The larvae act as borers, penetrating the bark and tunneling into the woody tissue. The life cycle involves complete metamorphosis, consisting of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults. Adult moths are diurnal and lay eggs in bark crevices.
