Leptoglossus clypealis is a species of leaf-footed bug belonging to the family Coreidae. This insect is recognized as a significant agricultural pest, particularly in regions where fruit and nut production is concentrated. Its physical structure, characterized by flattened hind legs, is typical for this taxonomic group.

The pest primarily targets fruit trees, with a strong preference for pistachio orchards. However, its host range is quite broad, extending to various species of Rosaceae, citrus trees, almonds, and ornamental plants. By using its piercing-sucking mouthparts, the insect extracts vital fluids from fruit tissues and tender plant shoots.

The biology of Leptoglossus clypealis follows a distinct seasonal pattern. Overwintering occurs in the adult stage within protected niches such as tree bark crevices or agricultural debris. As temperatures rise in spring, the adults emerge to feed and mate. Females deposit eggs in clusters on leaves or stems, and the offspring progress through five nymphal stages before reaching adulthood.

The damage caused by this bug is both quantitative and qualitative. Direct feeding leads to fruit deformation, premature abscission (dropping), and internal damage to nuts, often resulting in empty shells. Furthermore, the feeding sites often create entry points for secondary pathogens like fungi and bacteria, which exacerbate the degradation of the produce.

Effective management requires an integrated approach to pest control. This includes:
