Liparthrum is a genus of small beetles belonging to the Scolytinae subfamily within the Curculionidae family. These insects are categorized as bark beetles and are known for their ability to colonize and damage the inner bark and outer sapwood of various woody plants, making them significant pests in both forestry and horticulture.

These pests primarily target deciduous trees and shrubs, showing a preference for hosts that are already stressed or weakened due to environmental factors such as drought, transplant shock, or disease. By colonizing these vulnerable plants, they accelerate the decline and can eventually cause the death of the host.

The life cycle of Liparthrum involves an overwintering stage, typically as adults or larvae beneath the bark.
