Lixus sanguineus, commonly referred to as the reddish weevil, belongs to the Curculionidae family within the order Coleoptera. The biology of this pest is highly adaptive to agricultural environments. Adult beetles typically overwinter in the soil or beneath crop debris. As temperatures rise in spring, they emerge to feed on succulent plant tissues, which serves as a prerequisite for their reproductive phase and subsequent egg-laying.
