Crops damaged: This species is a polyphagous insect. In agricultural environments, it is known to feed on a variety of plants, including sunflowers, various grains, and pulse crops. It often aggregates on wild hosts before migrating into nearby fields, making it a recurring nuisance in diverse cropping systems where wild vegetation is abundant.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle consists of three primary stages: egg, nymph, and adult. Adults overwinter in protected sites such as crop residues, leaf litter, or loose soil. With the onset of spring, they emerge to feed and mate.
