The long-legged chafer (Macrodactylus lineatus) is a member of the Scarabaeidae family, belonging to the order Coleoptera. This insect is recognized as a significant pest in various agricultural sectors, particularly in the Americas. Its morphology, defined by distinctly elongated legs, distinguishes it from other closely related species of chafers inhabiting the same regions.

The life cycle of this beetle follows a complete metamorphosis: egg, larva (grub), pupa, and adult. The lifecycle duration can vary depending on the local environmental conditions, though in many regions, the insect completes one generation per year. Development is highly sensitive to soil moisture levels and temperature, which dictate the timing of adult emergence and larval activity.
