The pine weevil (lat. Magdalis phlegmatica) is a wood-boring insect belonging to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae. The primary hosts for this pest include trees within the genus Pinus, with spruce occasionally being utilized as a secondary host. The beetle selectively attacks trees that are already suffering from environmental stress, such as drought, nutrient deficiency, or injuries caused by logging and climate fluctuations.
