Melormenis

Melormenis is a genus of insects belonging to the family Flatidae within the order Hemiptera. These insects are recognized as agricultural pests due to their feeding habits, which can compromise the vitality and yield of various horticultural and ornamental plants.

These pests primarily target crops such as citrus, grapes, and various shrubs. By feeding on the sap of the host plant, they disrupt the transport of nutrients, which is particularly damaging during the active growth phases of the plant when it requires significant resources.

The biological cycle of Melormenis follows an incomplete metamorphosis, consisting of egg, nymph, and adult stages. Nymphs are frequently observed with waxy secretions that serve as a defense mechanism against environmental stressors and potential predators in the ecosystem.
