Monochelus (lat. Monochelus) is a genus of beetles belonging to the Scarabaeidae family. These insects are recognized as pests in various agricultural regions, particularly where they target the reproductive stages of host plants. Understanding their behavior is essential for effective farm management and maintaining crop health during sensitive growth stages.

Taxonomically, the genus Monochelus falls under the subfamily Melolonthinae or related scarab groups. Their life cycle is dualistic, involving subterranean larval stages where they consume organic matter or plant roots, and active adult stages that emerge to feed on above-ground vegetation.
