The primary host plant for this species is the coconut palm (Cocos nucifera). By feeding on the phloem sap of the palm leaves, the insects weaken the tree's physiological status, leading to reduced growth and diminished fruit production, although the direct sap extraction is often secondary to the pathogen transmission.
The life cycle of Myndus taffini involves multiple nymphal stages leading to the winged adult stage.
