The genus Oidaematophorus belongs to the plume moth family (Pterophoridae) within the order Lepidoptera. These moths are named for their distinctive wing structure, where the wings are split into narrow, feather-like lobes. Adult moths typically have a fragile appearance and cryptic coloration, which helps them blend seamlessly into their surrounding vegetation during the daytime.
This pest affects a wide range of both cultivated and wild plant species. The primary damage is caused by the larvae (caterpillars), which feed on leaves, flower buds, and tender new shoots.
