Biology and life cycle. The life cycle involves adult beetles boring into the bark to establish galleries. Damage and economic impact. The feeding activity of larvae creates extensive galleries that sever the conductive tissues of the tree, effectively disrupting water and nutrient transport. This leads to rapid decline, needle discoloration, and eventual tree mortality, significantly reducing the economic value of timber and impacting forest ecosystem stability.
