Description

Papuana woodlarckiana belongs to the Scarabaeidae family, within the order Coleoptera. Its scientific classification places it among the dynastine scarabs, often referred to as rhinoceros beetles due to their cranial horns.

The primary host for this pest is the taro plant (Colocasia esculenta), although it is known to damage other root crops and several ornamental plants. The infestation level can be particularly high in areas where organic mulch or debris is accumulated, providing ideal conditions for their development.
