Description
The genus Pholidoptera is part of the Orthoptera order and the Tettigoniidae family. While these insects are common inhabitants of grasslands and forest edges, they are recognized as agricultural pests due to their voracious appetite for a wide range of crop species during outbreaks, especially when natural vegetation becomes scarce.
They primarily damage cereals, oilseed crops like sunflowers, and various horticultural plants. Their omnivorous behavior means they often aggregate on field borders, spreading inward as their density increases.
