Phyllophaga ephilida is a member of the Coleoptera order and the Scarabaeidae family. Often referred to as a species of May or June beetle, these insects are significant soil pests in many regions. Their larval stage, commonly known as white grubs, spends the majority of its life cycle underground, feeding on plant roots.
This pest affects a wide range of host plants, including corn, soybeans, turfgrass, and various vegetable crops. Nursery stock and small trees are also highly susceptible to root damage. The impact is most severe when larvae are present in high densities, as they can cause rapid decline in plant health.
