Phyllophaga fusca, commonly referred to as the brown May beetle or June beetle, is a significant agricultural pest belonging to the Scarabaeidae family. The insect undergoes a complete metamorphosis, including egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. The larvae, commonly known as white grubs, are soil-dwelling insects that pose a major threat to crops.

This beetle is a polyphagous species capable of damaging a wide range of host plants. It severely affects field crops such as corn, wheat, and potatoes, as well as horticultural plants and young nursery trees. While larvae feed on the roots, the adult beetles are known to feed on the foliage of various deciduous trees, occasionally causing significant defoliation.
