The Rugose June beetle (Phyllophaga rugosa) is a significant pest belonging to the Scarabaeidae family within the order Coleoptera. It is widely recognized in North American agriculture for the destructive impact of its larvae, commonly known as white grubs, which inhabit the soil and feed on the roots of various plants.
This species infests a broad array of crops, including corn, soybeans, turfgrass, and several horticultural plants. While adult beetles may feed on the foliage of broadleaf trees, the larvae are responsible for the primary agricultural losses by directly attacking the subterranean parts of the host plants.
