Systematic position: The conifer engraver beetle (Pityogenes coniferae) belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae, subfamily Scolytinae. It is a small insect species known for infesting various types of coniferous trees within forest ecosystems.
Host plants: This pest primarily targets various species of pine, spruce, and fir trees. It typically colonizes weakened, dying, or wind-thrown trees, as well as logging debris left on the forest floor after timber harvesting operations.
