As a member of the genus Poecilimon, this insect is distinguished by its short wings and a heavily sclerotized pronotum, which limits its dispersal capability compared to other grasshopper species.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle progresses through eggs, nymphs, and adults. The species overwinters at the egg stage, with eggs deposited in plant tissues or the soil. In spring, nymphs emerge and undergo several developmental instars before reaching adulthood. They thrive in damp meadow environments and edge habitats, which provide consistent humidity and food sources.

Host crops and damage profile: This species is a polyphagous pest, meaning it feeds on a wide range of plants. It commonly affects cereals, legumes, forage grasses, and various vegetable crops. The damage manifests as irregular holes and ragged edges on leaves, as well as consumption of young shoots and floral parts, which significantly weakens the plant's structural integrity.

Economic importance: While localized, Brunner's bush-cricket can reach high population densities in neglected fields or field margins.
