Taxonomic position: Pratylenchus scribneri is a species of migratory endoparasitic nematode belonging to the order Tylenchida and the family Pratylenchidae. Unlike sedentary nematodes, these organisms move through the root cortex, constantly destroying cells as they feed, which leads to progressive damage of the root system.

Affected crops: This nematode is a polyphagous pest with a broad host range. It commonly infects potatoes, maize, soybeans, and various vegetable crops. Because it can survive on many weed species in the absence of primary crops, managing the population in field environments remains a significant challenge for modern agronomy.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle consists of an egg stage, four juvenile stages, and an adult stage.
