This species is closely related to other flower beetles but occupies specific ecological niches. It is recognized as a pest in horticulture due to the damage caused by adults during the blooming season of various trees and ornamental plants.

Host plants: The pest is polyphagous, meaning it feeds on a wide range of plants. Adult beetles are primarily interested in the flowers of fruit trees, including apple, pear, apricot, and plum. Additionally, they often attack ornamental shrubs such as roses, causing significant damage to blossoms and interfering with the normal reproductive development of the plants.

Biology and life cycle: The insect undergoes a complete metamorphosis. Adults emerge in spring, synchronizing their activity with the flowering period of their host plants. Larvae, unlike adults, develop in the soil, compost heaps, or decaying wood, feeding on decomposing organic matter. They generally do not pose a threat to the roots of healthy, living plants.
