Pseudoparlatoria is a genus of scale insects belonging to the family Diaspididae within the order Hemiptera. These tiny, sessile pests are well-known for their specialized feeding habits, utilizing a protective waxy armor to shield themselves from environmental stressors and many chemical treatments.

The host range of Pseudoparlatoria is extensive, focusing primarily on tropical and subtropical plants. Common hosts include citrus trees, various palm species, orchids, and a wide range of ornamental shrubs. In greenhouse environments, they can quickly infest collections, posing a significant threat to delicate indoor flora.

The biological cycle is marked by the crawler stage, the only mobile phase during which the pest disperses to new feeding sites. Once a suitable spot is identified, the larva anchors itself and begins secreting its protective covering. The insect undergoes several molts, and the adult females remain stationary for the duration of their life cycle, continuously draining plant fluids.

Damage caused by this pest involves severe depletion of plant nutrients, leading to yellowing of foliage, stunted development, and leaf drop. In cases of heavy infestation, the cumulative effect of constant sap withdrawal causes systemic weakening of the host, often resulting in twig dieback and making the plant susceptible to opportunistic pathogens.

Effective management requires a multi-faceted approach, emphasizing prevention and targeted intervention. Key strategies include:
