Psilopholis is a genus of beetles belonging to the family Scarabaeidae and the subfamily Melolonthinae. In agricultural science, these beetles are recognized as significant pests. Their larvae, often referred to as white grubs, live and develop underground, feeding on the roots of various economically important plants, which can lead to severe crop losses.

The host range of Psilopholis includes a variety of perennial and industrial crops. They are particularly known for damaging tea plantations, coffee bushes, and sugarcane fields in tropical and subtropical regions. While the adults may cause minor defoliation, the larval stage is the most destructive phase, often causing widespread plant mortality within infested agricultural sites.

The biology and life cycle of this pest are typical of many Melolonthinae. Females deposit eggs in soil rich in organic matter. After hatching, the larvae undergo several instars while remaining in the soil, actively consuming root tissues.
