Description
The genus Rhynchaenus belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae. These small insects are commonly known as jumping weevils due to their unique ability to leap when disturbed. They are significant pests that specialize in damaging the foliage of various woody plants.
These pests primarily target a wide range of host plants, including orchard trees like apples and pears, as well as deciduous forest species such as alder, birch, willow, and oak. They can cause localized outbreaks that impact the aesthetic and physiological health of affected trees.

This feeding behavior damages the photosynthetic apparatus of the leaf, leading to brown patches, premature senescence, and leaf fall, which stunts the plant's overall growth.
