Description
Taxonomic classification. Sitona prominens belongs to the order Coleoptera and the family Curculionidae. It is a well-recognized member of the Sitona genus, known for its impact on various leguminous plants in agricultural settings globally.
Host plants. The primary hosts for this weevil include members of the Fabaceae family. It poses a significant threat to crops such as peas, vetch, lentils, and alfalfa, often causing economic losses in both forage and grain production regions.
Biology and life cycle. This species undergoes complete metamorphosis. Adults typically overwinter in soil or under plant debris.
