Description
The Yunnan pine shoot beetle (Tomicus yunnanensis) is a member of the Curculionidae family and the Scolytinae subfamily. It is recognized as a serious pest causing significant damage to pine forests, particularly in Asian regions where its host trees are concentrated.
The primary hosts for this beetle are pine species, with a strong preference for Pinus yunnanensis. While it often targets trees stressed by environmental factors, fire, or other diseases, large populations can successfully infest healthy trees, making it a critical threat to silviculture.
