Trophotylenchulus obscurus is a species of microscopic parasitic nematodes belonging to the family Tylenchulidae, order Tylenchida. These organisms are specialized phytonematodes that lead a semi-endoparasitic lifestyle, feeding on the cells of plant roots. Unlike many other free-living nematodes, this species is closely associated with the root system, which makes it a dangerous hidden pest in agricultural settings.

The primary targets for this nematode species include various agricultural and wild crops. The parasite is found on the roots of woody and herbaceous plants, causing exhaustion of the root system. In agronomic practice, its ability to colonize root zones is significant, leading to disruption of the plant's normal uptake of water and nutrients from the soil, which eventually results in stunted plant growth.

The biology of the species takes place directly in the soil environment and root tissues.
