Systematic position: The species belongs to the order Tylenchida and the family Tylenchulidae. These microscopic organisms are sedentary endoparasites or semi-endoparasites that specialize in feeding on the root tissues of host plants. They are particularly adapted to aquatic or semi-aquatic environments, which distinguishes them from related species.

Host crops: The citrus swamp nematode primarily targets citrus species, though its host range can include other plants found in marshy or waterlogged habitats. Economic losses are significant in regions where soil moisture levels are consistently high, as these conditions are optimal for the nematode's mobility and reproduction cycle.

Biology and life cycle: The life cycle is characterized by sexual dimorphism. Adult females embed their head into the root cortex, while the posterior part remains exposed to lay eggs within a protective gelatinous matrix. Juvenile stages are mobile and travel through soil pores to find new attachment sites on roots, completing their development as they feed on the host's specialized cells.
